MALAYSIA – since 1948
Eiling Lim breaks new ground among independent bottlers. As one of only few female bottlers, she is the first one stemming from Malaysia. Since the recent (2013) start of her venture in the world of whisky Eiling has shown great taste in selecting and marketing her products to a global audience. Supported by her partner (Glenfarclas collector and former 'Thosop' owner Luc Timmermans) Eiling has been selecting casks from some well and some lesser known Scottish/Irish and US distilleries such as Littlemill, Clynelish or Glenlossie. Her 43 year old Speyside release and her equally old Ben Nevis release enjoy cult-status among collectors, such does her 1989 27yo Irish Single Malt.
According to Eling's own comments on her website the 3 key principles that drive her business are the thrive for quality, 'quaffability' and a decent value/price ratio of her releases. So far her success seems to prove these points.
The Eiling Lim website is admittedly a tad difficult to navigate and it takes a while to detect prices and availability of certain releases. Any questions are quickly resolved though by sending Eiling an email. She responds quickly and with the kind of cheerful attitude that shines through her entire venture.
